Avocet is an exclusively West African gold mining and exploration company.

We currently operate one gold mine, Inata, in Burkina Faso, and have a pipeline of exploration projects in Burkina Faso and Guinea. Avocet's exploration licences at Bélahouro in Burkina Faso cover approximately 1,660 km2. Our other main project is Tri-K in Guinea, which is currently in the feasibility study stage.

All of Avocet's exploration mining licences are located within the highly prospective Birimian greenstone belt that dominates West Africa's geological landscape.

Within the Inata mine licence area a Mineral Resource of 3.3 million ounces has been delineated and an Ore Reserve of 0.33 million ounces exists. At the Souma project, which is within the Bélahouro region but outside of the Inata mine licence area, a further Mineral Resource 0.68 million ounces has been defined to date. The Inata mine produced 135,000 ounces of gold in 2012, 118,000 ounces in 2013, 86,000 ounces in 2014 and 75,000 ounces in 2015.

Tri-K is a project in northeast Guinea with a total Mineral Resource of 3.0 million ounces. In 2013, Feasibility Study work completed on the basis of a heap leach development of only the oxide portion of the orebody showed that the project can support a 7 year life of mine, producing an average of 55,000 ounces of gold per year. A maiden Ore Reserve of 480,000 ounces (7.9 million tonnes grading 1.89 g/t Au) was also announced as part of the feasibility study. A mining permit was awarded in March 2015.
